A holistic approach to healthcare
Osteopathy is a manual therapy which emphasises the interrelationship between structure and function of the body and recognises the body's ability to heal itself; it is the role of the osteopathic practitioner to facilitate that process.
Osteopathy works by understanding the cause of your pain taking into consideration posture, gait and individual mobility and can help alleviate discomfort and pain through underlying joints, muscles, soft tissues and organs within the body. Treatment through various techniques such as specific soft tissue massage, cranio-sacral therapy, mobilisation, manipulative techniques and rehabilitative exercises are used to treat the underlying cause.
Osteopathy can help people of all ages from babies and children to the elderly as it helps maintain the homeostatic balance within the body.
In France Osteopathy is a governmentally recognized profession and has title protection, autorisation d'utiliser le titre d'osteopathe; Registre des Ostéopathes de France (MROF).
In the UK Osteopathic medicine is regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and the General Medical Council (GMC) under the terms of the Osteopaths Act 1993.
